VOTB Charity Concert

In Kenya, it is believed that having sex with a virgin will cure HIV/AIDS…(ECPAT International, 2007) This myth and practice has favoured the trafficking of young girls to major child sex tourist destinations.

Come join us and Artful Vandelays to raise our voices against sex trafficking in Toronto on May 25th at The Central. 603 Markham Street.

National Human Trafficking Awareness Day

Today is the National Human Trafficking Awareness Day in the US. I had started this blog back in 2011 after being seeing for the first time the video below. Before that day, I had never heard of sex trafficking or even thought of what human trafficking was. Me being part Cambodian, this particular video definitely struck a nerve.

Please check it out and know that this horror is not just happening in Asia. It’s occurring right in our own backyards here in North America.

If you are moved by this, please LIKE our Facebook page to learn more and see what you can do.

No Words…Pictures are Enough…

Here’s a video that doesn’t need words to explain the horrors of what young girls go through in the sex trafficking industry. In some countries, girls as young as 6 – 8 years old are forced to service up to 40 men a day and threatened on a daily basis that not only will they be beaten if they don’t comply, but that their own families will be killed even though there are in a country far far away. Scars heal, but it’s the psychological control, fear and torture that really suck the life out of these young girls.

They need our help. What will YOU do? Send us an email if you’d like to start volunteering with us or the organization highlighted in the video. Thank you.

In Her Shoes

The Journey

We weren’t able to embed the video here, so please click on the link below and watch the most touching, frightening yet gripping short film on sex trafficking we’ve ever seen.

Actor and screenwriter Emma Thompson narrates this short film. She explains how rage fuelled her role as the voice of conscience in The Journey, Richard Jobson’s violent and powerful short film about the experiences of one sex worker.

Emma Thompson says “Chances are you’ll know somebody who pays for sex”.

A21 Campaign

Check out a great informative video made by A21 Campaign highlighting some keys facts and a personal true story about one of millions of victims of the sex trafficking business.

You can visit them at http://www.thea21campaign.org/ for more details on how to help in their fight. They seem to focus more on rescuing victims in Europe.

Love 146 Flash Mob

Please take a minute to watch this video from our friends at Love146, who organized a Flash Mob with over 100 stars from London’s top West End musicals to help boost awareness of child sex slavery & exploitation in Europe. The Flash Mob included stars from Wicked, Mamma Mia!, We Will Rock You, Love Never Dies and Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

REAL MAN

Here’s a fun way to spread the word about the issue of child sex slavery amongst your friends.

You can also check out their YouTube page here for more videos of everyone from Ashton himself, Drake, Bradley Cooper, Sean Penn, Justin Timberlake showing their support against the purchasing of girls for sex.

Tax dollar money hard at work…for the wrong reasons!

Here’s proof that an employee of a government funded organization called PLANNED PARENTHOOD helps a pimp cover up his underaged sex trafficking operation.

From http://www.plannedparenthood.org:

“Who they are?

We are a trusted health care provider, an informed educator, a passionate advocate, and a global partner helping similar organizations around the world. Planned Parenthood delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of women, men, and young people worldwide.

For more than 90 years, Planned Parenthood has promoted a commonsense approach to women’s health and well-being, based on respect for each individual’s right to make informed, independent decisions about health, sex, and family planning.”

They obviously forgot to mention that they also “contribute to the sex trafficking industry” in the above paragraph.

It’s Not My Fault.org

Here’s another great organization based out of the US spreading awareness specifically on human sex trafficking. They do a great join in reaching out to the actual victims themselves. Especially promoting the national human trafficking hotline phone number: 1-888-3737-888. Check out their short promo video.

Please pass it along.

Thanks.
