Victor Malarek

Check out this very enlightening interview with Victor Malarek, a journalist who knows all too well about the sex trafficking industry having written a book about it called Natashas: Inside the New Global Sex Trade (2003).

One of the reasons that it is very hard to completely eliminate this is…and Victor puts it well by explaining that  wherever there’s a lonely guy looking for a woman, there’s sex trafficking… It’s sad, but it’s true.

If there wasn’t any demand for sex slaves, there obviously wouldn’t be any. Organized criminals are ultimately business men looking for the quickest and easiest buck and would not invest their time and resources for something that wouldn’t pay them very well. I believe that it’s eliminating the demand that is a very key component to stopping global sex trafficking. But how do we teach men that it’s not ok to pay for sex when in certain cultures and societies, it’s become such a non-issue to pay for anything sexual whether it be a dance at a strip joint or  looking up a ad in a public free newspaper distributed to the masses advertising escorts and massage parlors?

Any ideas on how to go about this?

  1. I have one question ….How can I help the young women that are already trapped in this life? Even if I can help just one person, how could I do this? Allen Reed .

    • Hi Allen,

Thanks so much for your comments. To answer your question, the easiest way you can help victims is by simly talking about sex trafficking with your friends and raising awareness. A lot of people you know don’t even know this issue exists. The more people who know about it, the more chances of them recognizing it being done in their own neighborhood and the more they are able to do something about it.

Feel free to forward our website to as many people as you can.

If you take a look at our ALLIES page, you’ll see many organizations fighting sex trafficking in their own way. So you can either donate or volunteer your time to help them and specify how exactly you want to help them.

      Hope this helps!

      Keep on raising your voice!
