Victor Malarek

Check out this very enlightening interview with Victor Malarek, a journalist who knows all too well about the sex trafficking industry having written a book about it called Natashas: Inside the New Global Sex Trade (2003).

One of the reasons that it is very hard to completely eliminate this is…and Victor puts it well by explaining that ¬†wherever there’s a lonely guy looking for a woman, there’s sex trafficking… It’s sad, but it’s true.

If there wasn’t any demand for sex slaves, there obviously wouldn’t be any. Organized criminals are ultimately business men looking for the quickest and easiest buck and would not invest their time and resources for something that wouldn’t pay them very well. I believe that it’s eliminating the demand that is a very key component to stopping global sex trafficking. But how do we teach men that it’s not ok to pay for sex when in certain cultures and societies, it’s become such a non-issue to pay for anything sexual whether it be a dance at a strip joint or ¬†looking up a ad in a public free newspaper distributed to the masses advertising escorts and massage parlors?

Any ideas on how to go about this?
